Masks-

Our brains are funny in how they work

Hallways can be filled,

Yet feel so empty

Silence can be present,

Yet sound so deafening

Smiles can be seen,

Yet nobody is happy

A mask we know is fake can seem so real when worn by someone nobody knows is suffering

Oof what a very true and real poem.

Truly, we never really know what someone is going through. 💜

It is interesting how we can create and wear different masks in public versus private. It's interesting how we even get the messages that we need to create masks instead of being our true selves.

Reminds me of the quote by Nathaniel Hawthorne, "No person, for any considerable period, can wear one face to themselves and another to the multitude, without finally getting bewildered as to which may be true."
