Lost Cause

Certain to fail—
what one whispers to oneself.
No reason to think otherwise.

You might see
the chance they have,
grasping the arm of a person
who wants to fall and is falling.

But it takes two to rise.
One is pulling,
holding for what feels like eternity.
Hands trembling,
fingers numb,
turning the into thee.

Love-struck,
broken-hearted,
and thereafter—
sobs from before, because you can’t bear anymore.

Tom Stoppard’s words:
“We cross our bridges as we come to them and burn them behind us.
With nothing to show for our progress
except a memory of the smell of smoke
and the presumption that once our eyes watered.”

Am I on the same bridge as before?
I can’t tell.
Counting became meaningless.
I walked through enough.
The flames will never stop

the smoke is suffocating

@Aceofallthespades

I see elusivuty.

Fear of not knowing ourselves.

The arguments we have with ourselves.

The doubts we convince ourselves of.

Weaving together.

But never losing hope that we will be seen 🤗💚
