So for the past year, every month.. unintentionally I pick a fight with my bf. I blow up something so small and make a big deal, say shit I dont mean and hurt him. Every time we get past it. This month... he had enough and broke up with me... we kinda talked about things and I thought things were going to be ok and we were on the path of getting back to normal like usual but this time he said he wanted a break. He wanted two months... two months seemed way to long for me so I asked for two weeks. We settled on two weeks without seeing each other and without talking. I went two days without talking to him... on the third day I texted him asking if we could just talk... not about whats happened, but just talk. He agreed, we talked all day he told me he loved me, that we would get through this, and that he wanted to fix things but just needs space.... today the fourth day we talked a little too... but then I asked him if we could talk about the our relationship and how to fix it... he said no and asked for his space again... how can I talk to him about things and fix things without pushing him?

@Cucumber1851

So for the past year, every month.. unintentionally I pick a fight with my bf. (I don't know exactly which is the exact reason by ill try to mention a few to see if it the right one; 1)You were not happy in the relationship so you kept picking fights, 2)He acted distant and cold which triggered your anxiety, and then you pick a fight to pull him close, 3) You were testing him to see if he has overcome certain weakness, 4) A closeness issue where you felt smothered, so you picked fights to push him away, 5) You felt disconnected from him, so it made you lose emotional self control, 5) A communication issue, where you kept things inside for long periods and then boom exploded, 6) You were not able to soothe your anxiety) I blow up something so small and make a big deal, (If i were on his shoes I would have been playful and fun, which would have make you laugh. I do believe he didn't handle this calmly, and perhaps end up dismissing how you feel or losing his temper. You made things small into big things, so it was his job to turn those big things into small things again) say shit I dont mean and hurt him. (This tells me you lack emotional self control, you were doing and saying things to pull him closer and you don't really respect him. This also indicate he didn't maintain emotional self control either, and was not listening properly) Every time we get past it. (No you got past it each time because you let everything out, it doesn't mean he got past it...) This month... he had enough and broke up with me... (I would say you both played a role in the end of this relationship) we kinda talked about things (The word "kinda" indiciates you two didn't go deep into the root of this issue, didn't discuss things and how to solve it) and I thought things were going to be ok and we were on the path of getting back to normal like usual but this time he said he wanted a break. (This means he is feeling smothered and trapped in the relationship) He wanted two months... (This definetly sounds like a very long break, I feel this is done in a way to put you in backup while he look for other people) two months seemed way to long for me so I asked for two weeks. (It's true about being a long break, but the fact you asked for two weeks does indicate to him you can't live without him. It would have been better to walk away without trying to change his mind) We settled on two weeks without seeing each other and without talking. I went two days without talking to him... on the third day I texted him asking if we could just talk...(You are becoming self-absorbed into what you want without thinking he wants a break from you, this is only going to push him away.) not about whats happened, but just talk. He agreed, we talked all day he told me he loved me, that we would get through this, and that he wanted to fix things but just needs space....(Listen to him, I understand it feels overhwelming and anxious thinking he needs space, but letting him come to you is the only way things will resolve) today the fourth day we talked a little too... but then I asked him if we could talk about the our relationship (You are making him feel trapped and smoothered by talking about this) and how to fix it... he said no and asked for his space again... how can I talk to him about things and fix things without pushing him? (By letting him have his own space and then let him come to you)
