You are a strong believer of Christ and God. You are never alone God is always there to listen to you and walk with you. Bring all your worries and hopes to Him. Allow Him to show you the path and trust that He will choose the future that's best for you both.
Your friend needed some time to work out his issues and guilt. Sometimes people need space to deal with personal stuff and that can be hurtful to people who love them. He has expressed that he still loves you greatly. The best way to support him through this might be to let him know you love him too and will be there for him when he needs you.
We're all here for you. Please feel free to share anything or even start a blog here like a diary of your path towards that future. Good Luck!

Hey there, hopefully you are doing well. There's a few things I would like to point out;
So Ive been best friends with this guy for the past four years. We dated for almost four months. We met at church and we are both very strong believers of Christ. Since we are best friends we know literally everything about each other. Before we started dating we both struggled with masturbation and we agreed that we would stop. I know that during our relationship he still struggled a little (This is a sign he could be using this to distract himself from issues and it could have turned into an addiction which is why it has been hard for him to quit this) but I always forgave him and encouraged him to stop. Lately we have been getting into some arguments but we always worked through them. (I get the feeling these kind of arguments may have been talked about, but were probably not resolved and healed from to the point where both sides have no questions or doubts the situation. One side may have feel they have worked through, but it doesn't mean the other side feels the same way) On Saturday he broke up with me and I was heartbroken and blamed myself. (This definetly feels like it came out of no where, but from the sounds of it he has been thinking about this for awhile, and theres a chance certain situations and the arguments lead to this. I'm noticing you have this mindset of blaming yourself for everything wrong that happened, which is a sign this is how they made you feel growing up and now it takes over the present) On Sunday we talked about it and I found out that he was still struggling with that sexual sin (For him its not something he can easily quit, specially when doing this soothe his feelings of anxiety, hopeleness, emptiness and sad. He constantly needs something from the outside, so that is that something he uses to feel better) and that he couldnt be in a relationship because he needs to fix things and grow his relationship with God. (I don't have a problem with religion, but to me he is using god and needing to "fix things" as an excuse. I think he could possibly be feeling overwhelmed, depressed and wants to be alone)He says his feelings for me havent changed and that he still loves me greatly. (This is contradictory, I'm sure he was sincere, but if this was true he wouldn't have end the relationship) My biggest problem is that I have no friends to talk to this about. (This is a sign you projected your unmet needs on him and rely on him heavily to feel better and to not feel lonely, so now you are missing how he made you feel) He is still my best friend but Im not allowed to text him because if I do then it will be like nothing changed and he will still struggle getting over his desires. (I think the reason you shouldn't text him should be to respect his decision even though it hurts, but he has to be the one the reach out once he "fixes things") I know that the only person in control of my future and if we get back together is God. (I think your ex would have to do some work on himself because he seems to have certain issues that will interfere with the relationship) Its still hard though. Im all alone and I feel like I should be doing something to better guarantee that well end up together. (I'm noticing you may have low self esteem, anxiety and often blaming yourself. You should definetly mourn the breakup, but at the same time working on those issues) Any advice on what to do? (Dont reach out first, wait to hear from him first)
