Boyfriend ended our 5 year relationship
My boyfriend of 5 years broke up with me a few months ago and I still haven’t recovered.
I feel betrayed because we always promised each other that we’d address pressing issues like this together to try and get a resolution but he dropped the bomb on me out of the blue. His reasoning is that he believes we’re too different and will never be able to make our relationship work through our personality differences.
He asked that we stay friends and I agreed but now I’m getting ghosted and he only responds to or messages me when he needs something or when he “has the time”. I have no issue if he wants to cut ties, but then he mustn’t string me along with promises of staying good friends.
We we’re friends before we dated and I just feel our relationship (regardless of the romantic side) deserves more than what he’s giving.
Hello, I'm really sorry to hear what you're going through. I am facing a very similar situation right now, about the reason we broke up. I hope things do get better. If it helps, try cutting ties for your own self. It is really so difficult when our moods are attached to their messages. But letting go will ease. Thank you for sharing.
I'm so sorry to hear. I really feel you.
My boyfriend broke up with me too about 2 months ago. It was only a 6 month relationship, but... I don't know, we spent a lot of time together. It seemed to be going really well until suddenly he started acting weird and then just ended the relationship without much explanation. He also said he had no intention of cutting me off, but he barely looks in my direction. He's avoiding me to the point of being rude not only to me, but mutual friends who are hanging out with me. Like he will not join a group conversation if I'm a part of it and will leave if I approach. I have no idea why. Nothing happened between us to warrant this... he's acting as if I broke up with him or somehow wronged him... or I dunno. But yeah, I feel the same way you do. We both deserved better than this. Whatever his reasons for ending the relationship, it didn't need to be this way. I guess sometimes people think they are better able to cope with a situation than they actually are? Maybe that's why your boyfriend is kind of ghosting you? I don't know.
Unfortunately many times after a romantic relationship the line " lets be friends"
is in my opinion the same as running into an OLD friend and say "let's do lunch.........." BUT that seldom materializes. it is awkward and people do not know what to say to each other..
i know that does not stop the feelings and the frustration especially if people promised to be up front and not ghost the other etc.... and at first the line lets be friends .... to some is saying there still is a chance.
