Break up

Hi, I’ve never posted here before I’m honestly just desperate to talk to someone about this. I broke up with my first boyfriend of four years (2 of them long distance) not because literally anything was wrong on his end, but I just feel like I need time to grow on my own as we’ve been together since I was 16 and I don’t know who I am without him, but that’s the problem. Even though I ended things, I am so unbelievably, debilitatingly sad. Like, everything everywhere reminds me of him and it’s so hard because I know I hurt him and he has been nothing but good to me, and under different circumstances I could see us being together forever. I guess I know I had to do it but at the same time I regret it because I miss him beyond words. I guess I’m wondering how to move on from something I caused and deep down hope will be rekindled at some point in the future? Or has anyone been through this and made it through?

hello. ive been through the same exact thing and i felt my life was over. but trust me, time heals everything. it will be difficult now but out of experience everything will be fine its just a matter of time. focus on yourself and your growth and remember everything happens for a reason. you are still young and life is always good to us

@kindTree9705 I agree I'm going through similar things now but with an ex that cheated on me and we tried to stay "friends" not with bennies but I don't like his behavior and I have changed since covid Although he used to mean a lot to me I dont even like him anymore and when I talk to him its like we always get into an argument. He has other friends and he travels a lot so I used to be his best friend here But no I have to rip this bandaid off because it is hurting me. It's going to feel lonely but I am just acting like the women I despise who stay in destructive relationships where the partner is not emotionally available. o well I think I am just going to ignore him for a while or now on. I knew this was coming but I am just going to speed it up. I'm dragging out the issue
