I was dating my boyfriend for almost 4 years. And not even 2 weeks before our 4 year anniversary he told me he wanted to talk. He told me that he doesnt think we're compatible anymore and apparently hes been thinking about it for months. There has never been a conversation prior about him feeling that way or being unhappy. Not even 3 months ago we were talking about our future and talking about getting engaged and then this. It completely blind sided me and now i don't know how to handle this or what to do. This is the person i thought i was going to spend the rest of my life with and last night he told me that he didn't want to be with me anymore.

I am in the exact same boat. It's so hard to accept. It's hard to move on. I'm waiting for it to get easier and I know it will. The brightens days are hard to see when I feel so lost.

I want my partner to be with me while it does get easier.

I thought we could work through anything, I thought we were partners for life. I am having a hard time going back to doing things on my own because I have so much love for this person.

I'm stuck wondering how long my partner felt like this. I start questioning everything and the time we had together. All my insecurities came flooding back.

I believe in love and it may not feel like it now, but the right love will come to you at the right time. ❤️

I hope things get easier for you 💖

I'm in the same boat as both of you as well. I never saw it coming. We have been so kind, patient and loving with eachother these past four years, never fought, have always have loved eachother and genuinely wanted the best for eachother. It all feels very difficult and I'm sorry that you are having this experience as well. I know that it doesn't feel like it right now, but things can be lighter and you will be able to open up your heart again. I know that thesse things take time. I'm trying my best to respect their feelings in all of this too, their want for change and experience outside of the relationship, but it is difficult. We all deserve a relationship where we can feel fully loved though. You deserve happiness and a beautiful life with someone who loves you fully. Maybe one day, after some time, this person might end up the person for you again, or maybe you will find someone who you love even more and who loves you more than you have ever dreamed. Sometimes we just have to be patient and see where life takes us. Know that you are not alone in this situation and when things get hard, there are always people here to help and support too.

This might not help you but I have experience of this from the other side. I very much hold my feelings on the inside, avoid all conflict, and struggle to have any conversations that could potentially hurt someone I care about. In the past I have ended relationships which probably felt like it came out of the blue for my partner, but had been slowly brewing inside of me for a while and i just couldn't face saying it out loud. And I have also talked about big things like moving in together as a (stupid) way of trying something to make a relationship work. I understand how frustrating it must be for you to feel blindsided by this, but if he's anything like me then the relationship just ran its course and he cared for you too much to be able to face hurting you. But in the end it was inevitable. There isn't anything to be done other than taking some time to heal and focusing on yourself. I really hope you feel better soon.
