Brokenhearted? We're here for you!
Heartbreaks are always there as they are a part of life. It doesn't make it hurt any less so here's some support for people with a broken heart
1. If you've "broken up" more than once, it's just not meant to be. Remember that time where the couple fought every day and constantly broke up and made up with each other, and then they got married and had a happy life? Me neither.
2. Changing is a lengthy process that takes time and effort. If your ex claims to have changed, chances are they actually just miss you. It's only been a few weeks, buddy. Do you really think they're suddenly a better person?
3. Backsliding is like eating a Big Mac when you're on a diet. It's good in a very shallow way for about five minutes, and then you realize why it's not worth it. Don't be that guy.
4. It's been said to death but No Contact really is the only way. If you have any voluntary lines of communication with your ex, the breakup will be exponentially more difficult. If they're especially manipulative, they will do anything to break NC. Don't give them the satisfaction.
5. The cliches are true (in spirit, at least). Deleting Facebook and hitting the gym aren't miracle cures, but being proactive in general and working on yourself is always a good thing. Keep your mind off the shitty relationship that you've idealized in your head.
6. You need a buddy to keep you accountable, if you've got one. One of my friends would go so far as to mock and tease me when I'd talk about my stupid ex or hint that I wanted to be with her again. That approach won't work for everyone, but tough love can definitely help. Preferably recruit one of your friends who particularly despises this ex.
7. Your ex is not the end-all be-all. You will laugh at yourself a year from now for thinking this. Trust me.
8. Holding on to this bad relationship is disrespectful to yourself. You only have about 80 years (give or take whatever) on this planet. Every second you waste on this is time you aren't going to get back. Tick tock, dude.

@anchoredwithhope I was with my ex for nearly 14 years, and it's been over a year since we broke up. I still feel as though it happened yesterday. Definitely not laughing about it a year later.
@nobuochick
Hey there!
I'm so sorry to hear about your breakup!
Unfortunately there is no magic wand that can just get you over a breakup in seconds..
The more emotions a relationship had, the longer it normally takes to get over..
People are so different though...
For some it takes a day, for some it takes months & for others it takes years..
You should take the time you need to get over it. There is no right or wrong way, just the best way for you and the not-so-best-way for you.
I hope that no matter what, you know that you are never alone!

@anchoredwithhope I can so relate to this. He claimed he wanted to be with me, but said he couldn't get over his ex. I completely cut all lines of communication. its difficult though
Healing a Broken Heart
There's no question that breakups can be painful, and that it's difficult to trust and love again. But there are ways to get past the pain. Here is some of Dr. Phil's advice for healing the heartbreak:
💗 In time, it is absolutely vital to put the pain behind you and move forward with your life and love. Otherwise, you are giving away your power to the people who hurt you.
💗 Sometimes the relationship you need to rescue is the one with yourself. Moving past a breakup is about you, not your ex.
💗 Don't start thinking about being friends right away — if ever. You have to be your own friend first.
💗 Grief is a process to go through, not a destination in which to wallow. In a process, you keep putting one foot in front of the other, and each little step is part of your healing.
💗 Define your real intentions. Are you trying to move past the breakup, or are you hoping to get back with your ex? You won't move on until you've accepted that the relationship is over.
💗 Be careful about the language you use. When you use catastrophic terms like "nightmare," "terrible," and "horrible," you're bound to spend time dwelling on the negative. Focus on what you can do.
💗 Sometimes you can't get over being hurt until you know you've been heard. Give yourself permission to express your anger and sadness.
💗 Don't embarrass yourself or put yourself in a situation where you'll look back and feel humiliated. Driving past your ex's house, making dozens of phone calls or e-mailing non-stop is no way to let go of the past or come out with your head high.
💗 Learn to trust again. Whenever you get involved in a relationship, you know there's a risk. Don't let a bad experience keep you from living your life to the fullest. You can go through life suspicious, or loving and laughing.
my boyfriend left me a little while ago and it's just hurting me still; all the time. The anger the sadness it's just constant. So basically we were dating since March and after the first few months he started acting strange, he kept making us go on breaks or whatever. I was ok with it, because he was dealing with his own self harm and depression problems, and I loved him. We helped one another. Me as a person, I get over attached. Then one day he just asked if we could be friends because he needed to focus on school. I did appreciate him seeming to still want to be ok and Although it hurt I understood. Less then a week later, (he completely cuts off from me no communication whatsoever) I hear he's dating his ex again. A girl who was my friend and his, and swore she had no feelings for him and he swore he had no feelings for her. I confronted them and they admitted that they had been dating secretly. I died a little inside, I just felt so betrayed and hurt. Everyday I hear something new. For example his friend came up to me and told me he was just dating me to get over her.... I know I should get over it but I just can't believe they would do that to me. We broke up in September but their date is 6/9/15 what the hell? Idk they gave me an excuse as to what it meant but I've been lied to enough.
Now I'm just done with everything, emotionally drained and I know it's December but it feels like it happened days ago. I'm helping myself get over it too

Hey there!
I can't imagine what you must be going through, I'm so sorry you had to go through that...
It really sounds like you have a lot to deal with and a rough breakup really doesn't make it easier...
We're all here to support you whilst you're going through this!

@CandyLove1400 My heart goes out to you sweetie, it's devastating I know. Today is the first day I didn't break down and cry uncontrollably or have suicidal thoughts. It's only early in the day, and I'm taking it moment by moment but I honestly never thought I'd feel remotely ok again. So please, please bear in mind if you can that you will have moments were you feel remotely ok again, and hold onto those to keep going. Confide in your friends or family, or here on the forum. Go do something fabulous for yourself, get a haircut, buy a new dress, go out, be FABULOUS. If I'm doing it, anyone can, and I mean that. All my love to you, I'm here if you need to talk.
Hello can we talkkkk im sad
Breakups are hard, I've recently had to deal with a situation like that myself. And honestly, no matter what anyone tells you, it's you that has to come to grips with it. In time, he will become part of your past, just another learning experience. Life throws us things so that we can build ourselves up for the future. The past is the past, eventually, as hard as it seems at the time we move on to better things. You accept the love you think you deserve and I hope that this situation helps you learn the love that is meant for you. There is better people out there for you, someone who can give you what you want. Over time you will realize what love you want and are entitled to.
@CandyLove1400 I've been going through something almost exactly thesame thing.
He was my first bf and the love of my life and seriously we were GREAT together. He left me right before I went to college and we had been talking on and off ever since. Every time we would talk, he would leave again and block me on everything in a few weeks At one point, he just sort of stopped talking to me for a while till I found out he had started talking to one of our close mutual friends instead and when I asked him about it, he said "I just thought you assumed I was done." Well this most recent time, we started talking and it had gone at least three months without him leaving again and he was different in other ways too. I was amazed. Eventually emotions started moving along more for both of us and we FINALLY ended up back together. I was ecstatic. It was going perfectly. His family still loved me, I helped put up their Christmas tree, and we were making long term plans for a V day ball, he asked me my opinion on a house and on his idea for a hypothetical proposal! We were even telling each other daydreams about living together and in his words "little feet." Then one day, he got a little distant and the next he had had a long day. I hadn't heard from him and as I'm generally emotional, relationship anxiety kicked in and I got scared. He basically said he didn't miss me, I got hurt, he was indifferent, I got mad, and the next thing I know everything is blocked.
@marissafem96 even his number is changed now and none of his friends will help me. I've never gone crazy like I did this time but I just couldn't let it go again. Everyone thought he was perfectly happy. This was right before Christmas and it's still horrible for me
