Can’t move forward, can’t go back

I took a year off or dating in 2020 because I was in a rough spot after being with someone who completely broke my heart and my trust- it was one of the most refreshing years I had ever had, getting to work on myself like that.

I met a girl late 2020, and we clicked instantly. We fell in love for the better part of a year, and now it is ending because she is moving to another country.

it sounds random, but here is some more context- she has lived in this other country before, and was there up until the pandemic forced her to come back home (that’s when we met). She tells me that she loves me, but when we’re apart she feels her heart being tugged in 2 directions. And with my life/career being built the way it is, I can’t just up and move overseas. So, I am stuck here- loving someone that also loves me, but we can’t be together. It sucks because she is literally perfect, and I could see myself spending my life with this person, but it seems like that is just a fantasy at this point.

I wish I was good enough to be a reason to stay, I have no interest in even talking to someone else. The thought of dating and meeting new people has my stomach in knots…plus I know at this time I’m just not ready or able to love another person in that way.

I'm at a total loss, I feel totally lost, I am sorry if I sound like I am rambling but I really don’t have anyone else to talk to about this.

Hi,

You could try talking to some listeners around here. You have good ones for relationship issues.

Having been in a long distance relationship myself, I know it can last only for some time. I would suggest talking with her to see how you could both move forward. Try to tell her as well how you feel, like you did here. Reading your post makes me think of a quote which says that sometimes choosing is giving up (not sure if I translated right in English)

Good luck and have a nice day.

@BrightKite183- one of the most encouraging aspects of your post is how you described the year off you took. How you worked on yourself. Give yourself some time, then remember that you moved forward in your own growth once before. You can do it again. Hate to say, it is a great big world out there. Lots of wonderful people to meet. Just give it time, lots of time.
