Hi!I'm new here!I've been having a problem with my current S.O. He hasn't done anything wrong really, but he does smoke (which I don't appreciate) as well as barely passed high school. He doesn't want to go to college, and will usually see his friends more than me. We have broken up before, and he came back to me. When we got back together, I was happy, but now I feel like I really don't need him to be happy because I was content on being single before dating him and after dating him. Right now I'm in college working towards my degree. I just feel like I want someone that can..keep up with me?Is it wrong that I feel this sort of want for independence?Should I break up with him?I feel like we kind of aren't on the same page anymore. He's really sweet when we do get the chance to hang out (which is rare) but I feel like I can't replicate his feelings. It doesn't feel like the beginning. Is it me because I am stressed or is this relationship not working?

Thanks!:)

Hey there, hopefully you are doing well. Theres a few things i would like to point;

Hi!I'm new here!I've been having a problem with my current S.O. He hasn't done anything wrong really, but he does smoke (which I don't appreciate) as well as barely passed high school. (This tells me you are not really in love with him, and the only reasons you are with its because of how he makes you feel at times even though you know they are certain things you dont like about him) He doesn't want to go to college, and will usually see his friends more than me. (You are feeling disconnected him and not as a priority because he sees his friends more than you. Its understandable how you feel). We have broken up before, and he came back to me.(Theres a pattern here, i dont know who initiated the breakup but i believe he is the type who often tends to isolate or push you away while you are trying to gain closeness. Its a tug of war where one wants space and the other closeness, so this usually is one of many reasons it ends. I do believe he goes through separation anxiety when he is not in contact with you, so he begins to chase you, but this actually causes you to lose feelings for him.) When we got back together, I was happy, but now I feel like I really don't need him to be happy (This tells me your happiness and well being depends on another person, it doesn't come from within. This will cause problems in a relationship. I believe you are not attracted to him because of certain things which is totally understandable) because I was content on being single before dating him and after dating him. Right now I'm in college working towards my degree. I just feel like I want someone that can..keep up with me? (This could be a deal breaker here because they are certain things you want in an romantic partner and he doesn't seem like he is the right partner for you) Is it wrong that I feel this sort of want for independence?(No, you are just not attracted to him as before) Should I break up with him? (Thats a decision you have to make on your own) feel like we kind of aren't on the same page anymore.(This means they are certain things he is doing and saying that are causing you to think like "is he the right person for me?") He's really sweet when we do get the chance to hang out (which is rare) but I feel like I can't replicate his feelings. (This means he is more into you than you are into him, his sweet word and gestures could be making you feel smothered at times and that you cant match his level of interest because your feelings for him are not at that level) It doesn't feel like the beginning. Is it me because I am stressed or is this relationship not working? (Its not you, its him. He is doing and saying things that are making you unconsciously feel like he is needy and not strong, so it causes you to have doubts about him and then begin to distance yourself a little, but then he pulls you in which makes you have even more doubts).
