Disappointed in men
I am a 55 year old woman, I have been divorced for 18 years. I have two beautiful daughters, a meaningful career, and much to be thankful for. I struggle with one issue that never goes away. I have had two chances with long term relationships since my divorce. Both never turned into thelong term committed relationship I long for since my divorce. I just seem to do nothing but make bad choices, or expect too much, or something. Now, I feel like I am too old. Online dating is nothing but disappointing and more rejection. I know I have no real control over this aspect of my life, and I really want to stop always hoping. Can anyone else relate?
I too am recently divorced and worry so much what else there could be for me out there. Dating sites are not for me. I need my faith to be restored in men at the moment x
Thank you for replying
I'm going through the same
I'm (sort of) on the other side of the stick. Although I'mnot divorced, I am married to a woman who has grown more & more self-centered even as we have had children. We have an 8 year old boy and a 12 year old girl. Everything is about her. I'm thebad guy because I'm the only one who makes or enforces any rules.
If (when?) I'm divorced, I can't see myselfever looking for companionship. For me, I have been alone pretty much all of my life. As much as I would love to find someone to share my different passions and have an intelligent discussion, I've just counted that out. I'm not talking about sex or anything physical! (As we all grow older, gravity and health issues kick in, time becomesso much more limited. I joke and say 'if I had an extra hour in bed, I'd sleep!')
Thereal truth is (besides the issues for my children) I miss most is intimacy. Perhaps it's just something I dreamt or felt while reading or writing; but I do believe thatsome people attain that level.
I'll stop my rant here, since I realize this post has become about me, and not about you.
I do appreciate the struggles you must be going through; it's no small challenge. I'm really amso glad that you are at least optimistic enough to have the hope that sadly brings you to disappointment. I wish you the courage to continue and sincerely wish that you are able to continually renew your hope each andevery time you are disappointed.
My skin hungers for that type of hope, that type of desire to fulfill something for myself.
Continue to remain strong. Continue to get up each time you are kicked down. The world is filled withjerks. Personally, Idon't think they are the majority; they are just the loudest.
Be well. I wish all whom you love are well and grow in a sense of peace.
@courageousBubble52, I can understand why you feel that you are disappointed in men. It could be that you have yet to meet the right man. Sometimes, it takes time and no one is really too old when it comes to getting into relationships. As long as we can feel the Love, it is never too late to get involved with someone. I can respect your wish to stop hoping. But then, hope is the only that most of us can hang unto. BTW, I can relate to your story.
"Online dating is nothing but disappointing and more rejection." - Sorry for that((( Which websites did you use. Some dating sites are really ineffective. I have been trying okCupid for 3 years with zero result. A good friend of mine recommended mehttps://www.rbrides.com/. Now I`m in a relationship![]()
I think every woman has her owndisappointments! It's hard to find good man for serious and strong relationships!! I know it because I'm looking for such man for really long time! Now I have started to use dating servicehttps://kovla.comand I hope, that digital world will help me to find my soulmate=)
Good men are easy to find. People with compatible desires, interests, location and circumstances willing to form true companionship are a little harder to find.
