Ive been married for 14 years have 3 kids. Two days ago I got a divorce petition filled letter from my wife. She never told me or informed or even mention anything and simply filled it. I asked her for the reason at which she just says I feel like it. I have never cheated , physically or emotionally abused , always provided and paid bills ( she has never paid any bill in last 14 years). I spend time with the kids and love them. Now I'm supper sad and lonely as I can't talk to anyone cause first thing everyone asks is why ? And I don't know what to say. Seriously don't know how to inform it to the parents or friends.

She has needs of her own, needs freedom and move on and live the rest of the years in her life in a different way...she may seek that initial love thrill of a first date or crush or just be free and alone, who knows what goes in her heart and mind...she felt she needed to break free...

Life is like that...when I married my wife I told her not to marry me unless she is sure to stay with me till the end of time...after a few years she divorced me and I reminded her of her oath...and she gently told me: people change, such is life....she went on with her new love and had a beautiful daughter and a good life without me...

Being rightful or providers does not give us right of possession over our parteners...they are free human beings with the right to decite and rule their own path and destiny in life...

She left...it is a fact...telling people should not preocupy you but instead think about your new life from now on...

friend, that sucks.

It won't make you feel better, but this is not uncommen to happen. It is not like there is something wrong with you or anything like that.

If you have time go check out and read the following books. I think they both can be torrented.

No More Mr. Nice Guy by Rober Glover

The Married Man Sex Life Primer by Athol Kay

These will explain in detail what has likely just happened to you. It might be or probably is too late to save/fix what you have, but the knowledge can help you never let it happen again. And it is possible still to recover what you have, but there are lots of details that you don't know yet and some of them can be important.

Read the books right away, get legal console. Also be mindefull, as there are some exception cases for this type of thing that can have unexpected reasons. But usually it is just like the books tell.

Try to make a huge point to take care of yourself for the next days/weeks/months as the details unfold. Thousands of guys go through same thing, never easy but they do get past it.

Good Luck

@4Si I'm so sorry you're going through that right now.

I'm so sorry, it's terribly unfair to be left without even an explanation. She can't just get away with "I felt like it", you are a person with real feelings, and so are your children who will want to know what happened. I would try to confront her again about it, and I wouldn't give up trying to get a reason, because she just can't do that.

As for your family and friends, I'm sure they'll be supportive. They know you never had done anything to harm your marriage intentionally, and they trust you, so I'm sure they'll believe you about whay happened! Their closeness and support is a source of help you need and deserve to go through this.

Whatever happens, try to at least find an agreement with her regarding your children, even if she refuses to provide any reason for the divorce. It's in the best interests of everyone that your children feel loved and not abandoned in this.

One more thing that is probably hard for you to see and accept right now: if she won't even give you a reason for leaving you, then probably she just didn't care enough, and she never was the right one for you. Which is surely a hard thought to bear, but at least you know that there's still a chance for you to find someone who is truly right, when the time is right.

I send you all my love!

Good response. And another things needs to be said too. Please!! Don't get into another relationship for at least a year! You need time to mourn, grieve, and find yourself.
