Sorry if I ended up posting in the wrong section! Essentially I have been shaken from my (4 year ldr) ex saying that he had a plan to fly over and propose, I'm confused on so many levels as we have yet to meet and could be totally different than how we present ourselves online. I broke off the relationship because I found out he lied to my parents and myself but out of fear that my parents wouldn't like him and was more annoyed he lied to my parents than myself, plus the distance since we hadn't made a plan to meet eachother because we didn't have the funds. He told me that he got the ring months before which makes me feel guilty but mainly because I still miss him as a partner well love him dearly, these plus him forgetting my birthday one time are the only times I have felt hurt in the relationship and I'm not entirely sure if we should get back together or I'll likely go back to sleeping for 3+ months because I recently only started getting over him. I'd love any advice, not necessarily follow your heart kinda stuff as it usually gets me into trouble.. cheers

@FeelingStuffy

Hey there, hopefully you are doing well. There's a few things I would like to point out;

Sorry if I ended up posting in the wrong section! Essentially I have been shaken from my (4 year ldr) ex saying that he had a plan to fly over and propose, (This might sound confusing what I will say, but I do believe he meant this, however this was said as a way to cause a reconnection between the two you and possibly with the intention to cause certain feelings to come up with this grand gesture) I'm confused on so many levels as we have yet to meet and could be totally different than how we present ourselves online. (This tells me you came on strong with his proposal, it made you feel like something was off inside, and you wanted to meet up in person a few times on order to be 100% sure about the marriage) I broke off the relationship because I found out he lied to my parents (You couldn't trust him, which is understandable. I believe he said lies because he was afraid your parents wouldn't like him and took the easy way out by saying lies) and myself but out of fear that my parents wouldn't like him and was more annoyed he lied to my parents than myself, (The lies is something he learned to avoid rejection and hurt) plus the distance since we hadn't made a plan to meet eachother because we didn't have the funds. (I believe you came to a point where you started to lose hope of the day you two will met, which I can see where you are coming from with this) He told me that he got the ring months before which makes me feel guilty (It's like i mentioned earlier, he meant what he said, but this was also done to impress you and to activate certain feelings of "OMG I can't believe he did that for me, I'm in love again". I can tell he is doing whatever he can to cause a reconnection because his anxiety has been high) but mainly because I still miss him as a partner well love him dearly, these plus him forgetting my birthday one time (This probably made you feel like it wasn't a priority or that he didn't care) are the only times I have felt hurt in the relationship and I'm not entirely sure if we should get back together (You are painting a good picture here, but I could tell you feel something is off and it has been hard for you to decipher what it is. I believe he is coming on strong, trying to seek your approval, trying to force things out of anxiety, so this is going to cause you to feel unsure about him and then think like "He is such a nice guy and miss, but I don't feel it for some reason..I should be feelings it but im unsure") or I'll likely go back to sleeping for 3+ months because I recently only started getting over him. (Breakups are hurtful, I can tell you went through a lot after the breakup) I'd love any advice, not necessarily follow your heart kinda stuff as it usually gets me into trouble.. cheers (A breakup is a relationship restart, which means the both of you go back to square one. He should focus on spending time with you as a lover, not as friend to make you laugh, have fun, and then slowly your feelings for him should start to come back. He is messing up the natural flow of things by talking about marriage and how he bought rings...this will make you feel smothered and unsure because he is coming on too strong. His mindset should be "I will act like her lover, make her laugh, have fun and have infinite patience with her")

@freshLight64 thank you so much for your advice I think I know what I need to do though it won't be easy I'm going to talk to my parents about what's going on then talk to him about my uneasiness. I did mention to him before about at least meeting up before anything so I guess I'm shaken mainly how unpredictable it was. Many thanks.
