GF of 3.5 years broke up with me

My girlfriend of 3.5 years broke up with me the day I came home from college because she couldn’t do the distance anymore, we had been arguing recently, and she wanted something different. At first she still wanted to be friends and be as close as we had been the last 3 years and even said that I’m stuck with her for the rest of my life but she slowly started to stop texting me and spending time with me. She then started dating one of her coworkers 3 weeks later. It hurts me to know that she could just move on that quickly, and that I mattered that little to her. She still means the world to me and she was my best friend. She has now cut me out of her life completely and blocked me on everything. The other day my car broke down at the store and she went there with her new bf and had to park right in front of me and walked into the store with her new bf. That caused me to have a panic attack and cry uncontrollably. I just don’t know what to do anymore.

I dont know if this might help, but I think your story was somewhat thesame as mine, its hard to move on especially when that specific person meant the world to you, its okay to cry, it would greatly help, but you need to wipe your face after and pat yourself for being strong. Time and only God can help you. Be strong mate, you can get through all of it. I believe in you.

@Blueduckie25,

I hear you. Breakups can be tough, especially when you didn't see it coming. Or you did, but ignored the signs and your intuition. Apparently she is someone who wants her partner to be close, to be available, in person. It's hard right now, but do respect het choice.

Your ex didn't move forward that fast. She has more then likely been thinking on this for weeks, months. Made a decision, took some time to mourn, and move on. In my experience, that's how it works for women. They decide after a long time of contemplating.

Looking at the situation, there is nothing you can do but accept. Mourn, and accept. She respected you too much to not be open (can't deal with you being away from me, as in distance), and to just pull out. You were loved, still are, never forget to love yourself first.

I know I need to accept her decision. I just wish she had told me before so we could have a conversation about it and what we could do to fix the problem. It was her decision so I just have to accept it but it still hurts me. And I don’t understand why she has to hurt me even more by showing off her new bf and flaunting him in front of me. That’s the worse part is that I thought she would be a life long friend but she doesn’t want me in her life anymore

We had been doing long distance since I went to college and I had one more year left before we could finally be together for time. I blame myself for her wanting to break up with me, if I had go to college somewhere closer to her then we would still be together.

@Blueduckie25

Someone that has the gall to treat you that way, did you a huge favor by breaking things off. I know it's hard to realize that right now because of the pain you're in. However, a year or so from now you'll look back and realize that it was for the best and you'll move on to find someone who will treat you right.

Hey there. I’m sorry you’re currently going through this. Breakups are very hard, especially when you really loved the person you were with. I am currently going through something similar, my boyfriend of three years broke up with me (mostly because of distance as well) last week. It’s hard, but right now the most important thing you have to do is take care of yourself. Its okay to cry and mourn because you lost the person you loved, but come to accept what happened and let go. This is your time to learn about yourself and grow as an individual. It takes time (trust me it’s only been a week and my emotions crash like a wave sometimes) but you will heal, be patient with yourself and more importantly grow to love yourself.
