General Complaining I think?
I just went through my first breakup, and it ended amicably enough, but I guess I'm just waiting for the realization to finally sink in. I'm single again after 3 years, August was supposed to be our 4th.
I've been in a long-distance relationship since my freshman year of college. They live in Texas, I'm in Michigan. This was the first romantic relationship I've ever had, pretty much all of the firsts. They're graduating in May and I messed up my GPA so badly that I ended up messing up my trajectory to graduate. I entered college in 2021 and am working towards graduating in 2027, and I guess I didn't see much point in changing anything. I was in Michigan, keeping my nose clean, trying to hit the books, and they were in Texas studying, working, and having a life too. Now the relationship's over because they "don't feel it's fair to them" to continue being in a long-distance relationship when they've graduated.
I'm so angry at myself, I feel like a child. I admitted to having a crush on them in sophomore year of high school, they said they didn't feel the same and I accepted that. I moved to Michigan, they asked me to be their girlfriend over a phone call, when I'm a freshman in college miles away. Now it's too hard now after we exchanged promise rings, now after I met their parents and step-parents and siblings, it's unfair for them. I just...I know I'm also at fault, I'm not perfect. But I don't know what to do, I don't have friends to call and complain to, I don't have family members who can relate, and I don't even have a pint of Ben and Jerry's to cry into, so that's why I'm here to scream and kick into the void. I think I just needed to write it all out honestly, I feel numb and dull. It's perfectly sunny outside, but I couldn't feel gloomier if I tried, I just feel low and petulant and unwanted. I know I'll heal from it, but I don't know, maybe I just wanted confirmation from others as well.
