He called me and explained

Yesterday, he told me he really likes her because they have the same dream of becoming a doctor and she is genuinely nice and let's him be friends with whoever. This hurt me immensely. Just thinking of how I met him when I was 15 and since he knew he wanted to become a doctor I did everything so he wouldn't be stressed. I admit, when I was younger I was always jealous and demanding but who isn't when they're so young and naive? I don't want to explain the whole thing but I know I changed, and I really did all to help him. From doing his applications, to not speaking to him at all cos he said he didn't want to be bothered to study. He said he wants to be my friend and he will be nicer to me now, and he's so sorry for everything but he feels like he found someone who he really likes. Hearing this after being with someone for almost 7 years and when we broke up due to him wanting to focus on med school it had shattered me even more. this is all confusing and I admit I am not at all perfect. I argue and get jealous still, but it is because he always lied and that is why I always confronted him. I always said why can't you just be honest w me and he said because of this exact reason because you get mad. But who does not get mad when you're lied to and the only time they tell the truth is when you find out somehow. Our relationship was complicated but just hearing his reasons why he doesn't want me hurts.
