He wants to quit being a full time dad

I've been with my husband for almost 15yrs and married almost 5. We have 2 children (13 & 9). Having children was never something he wanted but he chose to stay anyways. But over the years I have noticed that he just doesn't seem to care about them or any part of their life. He can be so toxic when he talks to them, it always starts a big fight because I call him out on it. Our children are by far the most important part of my life. He wants to just walk away and stop being part of their life, he feels they are better off. And claims he knows that he is a bad father and he does and is happier alone!!?? I don't know what to do at this point. Do I just give up and let him go, or try to help him be better?

@ShayM86 what would you do to try to help him be better?

@Harry53

I have asked him why he feels he is a "bad" father. And I have given him advice and also have addressed to him that we all feel that he is a great dad. But he is in a mindset that he just doesn't care to hear what we think. Unfortunately as much as I love him, I cannot just sit back and allow him to verberally a sue my youngest son. I have mentioned to him that maybe we could see someone together, and that idea was shot down. I don't want to give up on, but I don't want to force him to stay.

@ShayM86 I don't know how you would force your husband to stay in the family, but even if you could, it's probably not a good idea if he doesn't want to be there. One of your roles as a parent is to protect your children from any kind of abuse, so you definitely shouldn't allow your husband to abuse them verbally.
