How do you know when a relationship is worth fighting for?
My boyfriend and I have been together for almost 5 years. The past few months we’ve been really bumping heads. We started dating our freshman year of college. Throughout these past years I feel like we’ve both lost our true selves. We are more dependent of each other for many things. & now I feel like it’s coming back to haunt us. We both been realizing that we are doing things that just isn’t our true self. We both feel like we do things that we don’t want to do but specifically he feels like he minimizes his feelings for the sake of mine. I am a fairly sensitive/emotional character while his is somewhat the opposite. We both have realized that we haven’t been focusing on ourselves and in order to really turn our focus back I feel like we may need a break. He doesn’t believe in breaks. He says that if we take a break, there are no promises that he will return. We both want this to work but we don’t see eye to eye on WE can make it work.
I've been through a similar relationship, i'm sorry you guys are bumping heads alot. In my opinion communication is key. Hang in there!!! 💜💜💜
Hi, I’m so sorry to hear that. If you are thinking you need a break....then you need a break. And for him to say there’s no promise of him coming back...then do you really want someone who says things like that? It’s kind of an ultimatum. Either we have a break and work on things but no promise I come back to you. Or we stay together and are miserable. Obviously breakups are hard. One year of crying over a breakup and truly finding yourself is better than 10+ years in a relationship you’re truly not happy in.
