Looking for some advice

...See more My boyfriend and I have been dating for about 5 years. Over time we have learned a lot about each other and ourselves, love languages specifically. I love verbal reassurance! And he knows it, but isn’t a very verbal person. He likes to show his love rather than say it. I try to suggest ways he can try verbal reassurance every once in a while to keep things new and fresh! Well, he doesn’t take my suggestions very well. I sent him a video a saw on social media of this couple and the man was telling his woman how much he loved every part of her body inside and out and how much he appreciated her. They were sitting in their car and the camera is pointed at her and not him. I sent this to him saying “awwww this is so cute” and he responded saying “to me, stuff like this is fake. Why were they recording it anyway? This type of stuff only happens on camera”. He responds this way every time I try to suggest something for him. It seems that what I’m asking for is out of his reach and I’m not sure how to talk to him about it or bring it to his attention that he is only thinking negatively about this.

...See more My BF and I have been together for about 5 years and we’ve lived over her for about 4 years. He’s 24 and I am 23. Lately we have been having many conflicts and they a.ways lead and end in the same direction: we both just completely disagree with each other and there is 0 understanding. I can’t seem to get him to understand me, as he feels the same way. He doesn’t see what he did wrong and vice versa. It’s getting really frustrating and I have been seeking out relationship coaches or therapy. Anything that will help us but unfortunately I can’t afford anything I’ve seen, not even the therapists on 7 cups. Anyone have any low cost suggestions?

...See more My bf and I have been dating for about 4 and a half years and we’ve basically been living together for about 4 years. We like to go on dates to keep our lives exciting but how we both plan dates are so different. We both enjoy going out for activities, so typically that’s the type of stuff I’ll plan. I try to plan things we both like. He’s really into gaming, while I am the complete opposite, so a lot of the times that what he plans for us. He likes to plan dates that he wants me to enjoy with him. I’ve mentioned to him that recently that he should plan more things that will be enjoyable for us rather than just him, even though I don’t mind doing something he likes every once in a while. of course he says he’ll work on it but he also says I should plan dates that I want him to enjoy with me and I do. It’s just when I do plan something that I’m interested in and him not so much, he shows how disinterested he is. He’ll be super nonchalant or on his phone looking for other things for us to do. When he does try to plan things that I like it feels like he doesn’t know me or what I like. It seems like it’s hard for him to plan something that he just doesn’t want to do. It can feel like he doesn’t care about my feelings. I do things to make us both happy and try to also share excitement in the things that entertains him but he doesn’t do the same for me. I understand that maybe I could put in more work to convince to to try different things but I also feel like he should be willing to do things he isn’t interested in as well, or try to at least pretend he’s enjoying spending time with me doing something that I enjoy.

...See more My boyfriend and I have been together for almost 5 years. The past few months we’ve been really bumping heads. We started dating our freshman year of college. Throughout these past years I feel like we’ve both lost our true selves. We are more dependent of each other for many things. & now I feel like it’s coming back to haunt us. We both been realizing that we are doing things that just isn’t our true self. We both feel like we do things that we don’t want to do but specifically he feels like he minimizes his feelings for the sake of mine. I am a fairly sensitive/emotional character while his is somewhat the opposite. We both have realized that we haven’t been focusing on ourselves and in order to really turn our focus back I feel like we may need a break. He doesn’t believe in breaks. He says that if we take a break, there are no promises that he will return. We both want this to work but we don’t see eye to eye on WE can make it work.

What I want vs what he wants

...See more Mf bf is very easy to please. We can order Chinese and watch some tv and he’ll be great because that’s what he enjoys. Me on the other hand, I enjoy activities together but he doesn’t do much to make it happen. He says if I want more extravagant things then he should get them too. I agree with him because it’s fair but I feel like he only wants more because I am asking him to do more than he would want from me, not that I’m not willing to do it for him. It just seems like he doesn’t want to make me happy if it requires more input on his end. Should I settle for what he is doing? Should I just always do more for him? I understand reciprocating thing for each other but what he wants is based off of how much I want.

...See more Been with my bf for almost 5 years now. Naturally, I am a person who helps. I do what I can when asked. My bf on the other hand, you have to BEG him to do things he doesn’t want to do. Could be simple, could be difficult. If he doesn’t want to do it he absolutely won’t, which I feel it totally fine. But sometimes it can feel like I’m over doing it bc he’s not doing it at all. For example, I’ll wake up in the morning and take my dogs outside. If my bf is up and asks if I can make him a drink while I’m up, I will. But if the roles are switched more than likely it will not happen. It feel like more often than not I’m ok with doing things I don’t feel like doing if it helps him but he won’t do the same for me. I voiced to him this morning that it can feel like I’m doing too much and he told me to stop doing things when he asks. Should I just say no? Just bc he wouldn’t do it for me? Should he be more willing?

...See more My boyfriend (24) and I (23) have been together going on 5 yrs. lately we have been having some really rough patches. We both have our flaws but we both typically find a way to get through them. Lately I’ve been noticing that he has a tendency to bring up my past mistakes when he makes a mistake. Like if I have been guilty of doing something in the past, and he does that same act he brings up that I make the same mistake. He doesn’t understand the significance of doing this. I’ve tried to bring it to his attention but he completely denies that it happens or finds an excuse to make it seem ok or he turns it around on me. I don’t know how to bring this to his understanding and I feel like this is really important to know.
