How it's like to have and EX?

I just want to know ... How it's like to have an ex boyfriend / fiance / husband? Ex-someone with who you were in long-term commited relationship?
I'm in relationship with my husband since I was 15 and I don't have much experience. I had just one boyfriend before for 2 months. I remember that I was crying after that for several months, but after a few years we could spent time together as friends. I'm over him at all.
But what about something serious? When you're with someone for 5 - 10 - 15 years? Is it be possible to ever be over? Or it just stays with you for a lifetime ...?
@Atsumiko it really depends on the relationship and your feelings in it. I've had two LTR before my marriage. One was very passionate and lasted on and off for about 10 years. I don't know that I ever got over him completely to be honest. But I learned a long time ago that sometimes you have to distance yourself from those relationships because they are in some ways an addiction. Now my other LTR was about 7 years and honestly, I'm so grateful it's over. There were things missing and we just weren't a good fit for each other. I'm grateful that he's now married and glad that I'm not in a relationship with him.
Hmm, great question, I'm curious about it too! I don't have an ex, but it's because I'm in my mid20s and have never been in a relationship. I do wonder too, how do people get over each other after 5- 10 -15 years of being together. I hope to see some insights on this thread. Thanks to those answer!
I was in a LDR with a girl for 1,5 years and its only been two months since we broke up and honestly, i just feel completely empty. It was my first relationship. I think I am starting to feel better, but I am not sure

@Atsumiko still doing pretty bad. i i feel lost and purposeless a lot of the time. i have talked to a counselor and we came to the conclusion that the relationship was a controlling one i gave all i had and now im emptied for god knows how long
