How to break up a nasty relationship when anxiety rules you over
I'm having some trouble leaving an abusive relationship with kids in tow. Every time I try to leave my anxiety kicks my butt. Cops don't help I've tried before and he just manipulates the situation. Last time I've tried to leave, he harassed the shit out of me at work and at home. If I get a restraining order doesn't that me he can't have a contact at all, myself or the kids? I at least want him to be able to see the kids from time to time. Can anyone give any advice? Otherwise I keep taking baby steps but I've yet to take the biggest step of them all yet
@Catattack72 hi there, it sounds like you've made numerous attempts but he keeps harrassing you - that's not fair to you or the kids. I would consult the nearest police station and find out more about restraining orders (or even look online - there are specifics depending on where you are located). I know it is possible to have a restraining order for you but still allow him to see the kids. It's unfair to you that every time you try to leave he manipulates the situation. You are entitled to your own privacy, free from harrassment and abuse. I am very proud of you for making this decision to leave - it takes a lot of courage and strength so kudos to you! I hope you know how courageous you are. I would suggest finding out some more information about possible options (i.e. restraining order) and if your safety is at all threatened in any way, please don't hesitate to phone Emergency Services for help. Do you have anyone you and the kids can stay with for the time being? Take care. xo
@Catattack72 in regards to your anxiety, can you tell us a little more about that? What kinds of things do you feel and when - is it only when you want to leave that the anxiety comes about? Feel free to message me directly if you would like to chat in more detail. Take care. xo
