How to move on?
My very first romantic relationship ended a couple months ago. It all started as my boyfriend was too busy with school and could barely find time for me. Being optimistic and in love, I refused to break up with him and believed that our love was strong enough to overcome this situation. Ive tried so many things to not feel bothered, by keeping myself busy, going out, sleeping, but no matter how much I tried to convince myself I was okay, I felt broken inside. Im bad at confrontations so I let many hurtful things he did to me slide, but after a few months I tried telling him how much I was hurting, in hope he would try to fix things and make me feel better. However, my attempt barely worked and it tooks me five or six more attempts to realize he just didnt want to change. We broke up after 7 months, on a mutual agreement.
Its been two months, and I still am not over it. We havent spoken since, and I removed him from my social media and deleted his number, pictures, etc. I dont think I would want to date him again, but its painful to let go of a relationship in which I had so much hope. I let myself hurt for too long but never got the reward.
How could I get over him completely? I have been feeling down for the past two months, I have no energy, I am unable to concentrate and I just havent felt like myself in a long time.
@lau0111 First of all: I'm sorry that happened. But it does sound like you're doing the right things from removing him to acknowledging it is very much over and keeping yourself busy.
I think what is left is unfortunately not within your control: time. People grieve at different rates and you just might need more time. And that is perfectly okay. I know this might not be as useful as you migth have hoped but it's always worth remembering that not everyone handles breakups the same way.
I suppose the one thing might be doing something "big" or something unfamiliar to you. Like take a class or go skydiving or even go some place you've never been to before--which can be as drastic as visiting another country or maybe visiting that local park or museum or space you've never been to. I find that sometimes that helps me occupy my time/emotions or helps me take me out of my situation, even if only for a little while.
Good luck!
