I don’t know what to do

My ex and I were together for almost 4 months (I know it’s kinda short but). Since we broke up, we’ve been on and off since. It always ends up with me blocking him and unblocking him whenever he asks me to talk again. But recently I decided to talk to him again since I started missing the times we had spent while we were dating, but he doesn’t seem to be interested or what not. However he still tells me he loves me and I feel like an idiot because I still love him even though I don’t believe he’s taking us seriously I guess. I decided on giving him a chance still since I was the first one to reach out to him (since normally he’s the first to reach out). I feel like I should just give up and move on but I feel guilty for blocking him and stuff so I don’t know what to do. I don’t know if I should block him, reduce contact, or whatever. Part of me still loves him and misses talking to him but the other part doesn’t want anything to do with him. Hopefully someone reading this can understand and give me advice on what I should do

Ultimately you're the only one who knows what to do, but I do suggest let the dust settle and be on your own for a while, and see where it takes you. It's never easy...hang in there!

Perhaps there are just a few lessons to be learned?

The communication style you've chosen of blocking/unblocking appears to have a negative effect on what you're professing to want with him. Just a protip, I'd highly suggest finding better ways to communicate with guys that you're interested in and finding better methods to deal with things or situations that you do not like versus blocking and hiding, then when the smoke clears a little bit, unblocking. You'll find that communication is important in relationships, especially those that are trying to get off the ground, and the ability to deal with relationship trouble is going to be a very important skill that must be mastered if you're ever to find yourself in a healthy relationship in the future.

It sounds, based on what you wrote, that you're not really that into him. You seem to like the idea of him, but not the reality. Perhaps find someone that you do click with that you don't have a 50/50 set of feelings with instead.

Lastly, you may greatly benefit from learning the differences between love and infatuation. I've included an excellent link that explains the difference to help guide you in the future. Don't even think anything of it, a lot of people get confused.

As PurpleShip7304 said, it's your life and your situation - only you know what is best for you long term.

I hope you're able to figure this out and make things work out for you, with him or not.
