I need to fall out of love.
I had been dating the love of my life and best friend for six months. When we started our romance we were absolutely crazy about each other and I truly felt like I could tell him anything without fearing judgement. As the months went by we started falling deeper and deeper and once the 'honeymoon' stage, so to speak, was over, we had many periods of disagreement which led to both of us feeling hurt and stranded. We always made up and before long something else would rear its ugly head. I guess our differences in personality and way of thinking led us to a rollercoaster of ups and downs. The 'ups' were absolutely magical but the 'downs' were enough to tear me apart. We both sort of gave up on the exhausting ride we were on and after a temporary break we broke up for real. I have never loved another man as much as I still love him and he said he still loves me too. We agreed that we wouldnt give up on the strong friendship that we had. When we broke up I asked, through tears, if we could try again in the future and he said yes. A few days ago when I said I still have hope for a future 'us' he confessed that he rather wouldn't go back. I miss him terribly even though we are still good friends. It's just not the same. How do I fall out of love with him so that I can experience happiness again? 💔

I'm sorry to hear what happened. Relationships have ups and downs but the downs should be manageable and tolerable still! We often love the wrong people; the people we're not entirely compatible with. You're going to still love and miss him, it's early days but time does heal! People say that because it's true, no matter how long it takes, there will come a time when you can smile back on your relationship, yet not miss it anymore - I promise. You will find someone else that you will love just as much, if not more, but you will be in a more stable and happier relationship! You can get through this. In the mean time, us listeners are always here for you if you need to talk about your feelings.

Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. It is getting slightly easier by the day and I have a newfound sense of hope for what is awaiting me.
I have just broken up with the love of my life also & I'm devastated! My problem is I work with him still so need to show a professional side. I also have to put up with his newfound flirting with a female who works there too, it's only been 2 days. We were together for 2 years & he now treats me as though I never even existed in his life.
i never knew he could be that cruel, he was never like this before so I'm so confused as to how he can be now, considering he told me countless times he loved me. I wish it was as easy as flicking a switch but I don't think that's the case when you truly love someone.
Take care of yourself, make time to feel good about you. You're worth so much more than what someone who is willing to hurt you when they say the opposite is. X
@enthusiasticPenny9384 I'm going through almost the same thing as you. You are not alone. He sounds like a real jerk!! The other girl better watch out. He will probably do the same to her

A relationship with really high highs and really low lows can be super tough and draining, and amazing at the same time. Staying friends with someone you have been intimate for and have had feelings for can be really tough. I heard a relationship expert say this inititally is not possible. One must grieve and process the feelings of being in love before friendhsip feelings can be established. Some people can make it work and others cant. Maybe you both could take some space and heal your hearts before coming back to a friendship. If you decide that path you must come to terms that you might not come back together as friends and be willing to take that risk. When a relationship ends we must grieve the loss of what was and what we thought would be. That will help heal you heart so you can move forward.
@SlightlyDepressed1998 am very sorry that you are going through this, but instead of wishing to fall out of it, why not keep it there? <3 , just try to see if from another perspective ,he is still the same man, friend or lover, he is still the same, he is by your side as well, and that's the thing that matters, with days to come, it will be easier to accept the fact, it simply didn't work, despite how amazing the ups was, and at some point there will be the one who can make it work with you <3 , i hope you're doing good these days, and so on , all the best <3
