Is it too late to fix my marriage?

My wife and I have been married for 2 years and we have a 1 year old daughter. She was my best friend for 5 years before we got married. We’ve had ups and downs in our relationship and a lot our issues I’m realizing are my failures. I never did anything to fix them and I was too naive to understand how this all affected my wife. We had a lot of happy moments in between and especially with the birth of our daughter and I guess I felt that was enough to overcome anything.

Specifically, we had intimacy issues in our relationship. It came up in our premarital counseling and I never honed in on her love languages. And these last two years were a real struggle for us financially which just created a lot of stress and tension. But I never thought we would get to this point.

A few weeks back I discovered she had feelings for another person. A friend she grew close with several months ago. Someone who was filling a void that I created. She admitted she loves them and they kissed. I don’t condone her actions but I feel like I can’t blame anyone but myself. I feel like I’ve hit rock bottom at the thought of losing my family and I’m looking back at all the things I should have done better.

I want to try marriage counseling but my wife thinks it’s too little too late. The damage is done and I should have tried harder years ago. At one point she even asked my to do counseling and I said no. I don’t know why I was opposed to it. That’s something I’ll always regret now. And will be the reason I don’t deserve another chance. I don’t know what to do. I haven’t been able to speak to anyone about this.

I still love my wife. I know I have a lot to fix within myself so that I can be a better husband. But I wish she was by my side. Right now being a father is my priority.

@brightField5951 I understand it sounds like a real tough time that the two of you had, and there was so much of tension. I understand why you feel like this might be the end of everything. Having feelings for someone else is a bit natural and can't be helped, but looks like it went beyond. And I see why you blame yourself since looks like you were distant.

It might be a good idea to sit with her and discuss what to do now given everything, and I hope things get better.
One great thing about hitting a rock bottom is that things can't get worse, only better. Let's hope that's the case for you, and we're all here for you!
