Need help
This is a massive issue that caused me to move out and end an engagement. We still talk but I can't let it go. I would like someone else's outside feedback.
I had my boards scheduled for my Masters degree and was very stressed out for several months. My then fiance and I decided to take a nap the day before my exam. I got into the bed without shorts on and he started to try and be romantic. I said at the time that I was feeling very distracted and knew I could not be emotionally present for sex at the time. We have a very healthy sex life and we have sex many times a week. However he got mad at me that I led him on by not wearing shorts. So much so that when I confronted him about being mad he said that " oh it's a huge deal that you don't want to have sex but after years together this happens."
When I texted him And expressed that what would have been more helpful is if he had asked me what I needed to relax or prepare for the boards he came into the house and screamed at the top of his lungs who the f** did I think I was talking to. He brought up my parents dysfunctional relationship And said f** me for accusing him of acting like my father... Which NEVER came out of my mouth.
I went to my boards without speaking another word to him and thank God I passed.
Now he is accusing me of setting up the situation so I had something to blame if I failed.
Any ideas????? I am trying my hardest to leave him completely and break all ties but my brain and my heart keep lying to me and telling me he will change. We have been in therapy which he has repeatedly said is a waste of money. Now he is in individual counseling but I have no faith that it will help.
@pupmom,
has he ever acted out like that before?
I would continue to try to break ties with him. I know it’s hard because you loved him at one point. But he has shown you who is truly is and his behavior is alarming and disturbing. and as the Maya Angelo quote goes “when someone shows you who they are, believe them.”
