Needing Advice on Break-Up
My boyfriend of 7 years and I recently broke up. The last few years have been plagued with alcohol issues (on his end) and caused fights. Even so, I wanted to stay together and work through things.
About a year ago I was offered a job opportunity out of state. We decided I should take it and we would work long distance, with him eventually following. He was able to work in the new state part time, but his drinking issues still persisted.
About a month ago he broke things off saying he couldn't be with me and needs to figure out his issues. I'm so glad he seems to be on the right path, but I am hurting so much. I love him and wanted (still want) to marry him. He is my best friend and I feel like I am floundering. I have so many mixed emotions it's hard to keep it together- even at work. I regret moving and am trying to get through to my ex that I want to get back together and work through things. He hardly ever responds and says he doesn't want to talk, but I am literally devastatedthinking about a life without him.
Has anyone had experience with something like this? Any helps, advice, or good thoughts are VERY appreciated. Thank you!!!
Hey @CHL1001
I moved your forum post over to the Relationship Support section of the forums.
Breaking up after a long relationship is never easy :(
In the situation you described, I think Conscious Uncoupling can help you two figure out how to evolve your relationship post-breakup.
