Past relationship

I was in a relationship for 6 years that resulted in my beautiful child. The first 5 years were great. The last year the man I loved turned into someone I did not recognize. He was verbally abusive, inconaiderate and disrespectful. We have been apart for 4 years now. The first 2 years there was a friendship and glimmer of the man I had fallen in love with. The last two years we have developed a physical relationship. I've tried to convince myself to stop and I always seem to give in. I blame it on the fact that I haven't been with anyone that way but him in 10 years. I don't want him back. I miss the feelings of when things were good but the bad was really bad. I would like to find a heathly relationship but my anxiety always makes me find a reason to cancel dates. I don't trust any of them want anything more than sex and I'm not ready for that. I am also terrified of wasting another 6 years on the wrong guy.

I don't know how to move on :( So far this year my ex and I haven't discussed anything outside of our son. I question how long that will remain though.

I apreciate any and all advice.

@Broken513 Firstly, if you don't want a relationship with this man and you only sleep with him bacause of the comfort of only knowing him for the past ten years, you need to cut this out. You need to stop sleeping with him.
On the other hand, if you want to rekindle something, you should speak to him before sleeping with him again.

Dates don't mean sex. Go out and wine and dine and enjoy others company. There's no reason to jump into bed with them and if that's all they want you will realise very quickly and you can move on to the next date. Don't waste years away that you could be happily dating. There's plenty of people out there, you'll find the right one :)
