Pick my stuff up or not?

Hi guys,

Long story short, my ex broke up with me 3 months ago. He left a great relationship, with so much laughter, love and respect. It was everything I could dream of.

He left because he didn’t want a girlfriend. That’s the only reason I ever got, no other explanation for it.

At the beginning of december, I’ve asked him to put my stuff outside so I can pick them up. He told me that he really couldn’t, because he is busy; he’ll do that after new years.

It took him 17 days, but he texted me. Asking me when I’ll be coming over to collect it. Now, I’m rather undecided what to do.

I haven’t really healed yet, this is because I lost the love of my life & best friend in one day. He never tried to not lose me, even though he said he never wanted to lose me. For me, it’s 50/50. I really want to see him, but at the same time I don’t.

Please, help me to figure out what to do because I am clueless.

Thanks 🤍

@raspberryDay6508 Pick up your stuff. It will be hard but pick it up, turn around, move forward and don’t look back. Someone else deserves you more!

facing it is better then avoiding and thinking what if.... pick up your items.

My first relationship lasted 5 years. I didn’t love her, and at a certain point I realized that about our relationship and wanted to start seeing other people. I did feel terrible about the way it was working out (with her being more committed to the relationship than I was) but at the same time I just couldn’t change how I felt either. You just can’t force yourself to love someone if the feeling isn’t there.

Now, 20 years later, I know absolutely that ending things with her was the right choice. She is happily married now too, so I know as much as her heart was broken at the time, that looking back now she sees it was right for her too.

Point is, sometimes things don’t always work out the way we want, but it’s exactly what we need at the time, even if we have trouble accepting that in the moment because of how much everything hurts.

At least he was straight forward with you in his decision and didn’t lead you on about his intentions. I think if he has decided he is done with the relationship it’s better to know sooner rather than later! I’m sorry it didn’t work out the way you wanted.. but I think the act of picking up your things, in a bitter painful kind of way, might help you to understand that the relationship is over. It will be a necessary step forward, to help you process the reality of what is happening.

Stay strong! We wish you all the best in this difficult time.
