Should I keep my hope up?

I was with this guy almost one year, broke up twice in the past, always ended up low key back together, but the problem didn’t really change, he has his wall up slightly unavailable emotionally and his work always come first. I kept thinking time might change this, but I guess I was not patient enough in the process so kept picking fight along the way, eventually we broke up last month. I felt ok like it was the right thing to do at the tome, but since then I havnt stopped thinking about him even for a day, I keep having this hope that he will find his way back like he used to, but the difference this time is I stood strong on my ground , last week I told him we can’t talk anymore as it’s too soon to be friends I need time to heal ( I was only saying it for him to step up and do something about it whether it’s confessing his feelings to me or whatever) but he said ok I understand, so now my hope is still there but I don’t know if I’ll ever hear from him again anytime soon 😫. We both in our late 20s.
