So lost
I don't know if divorce is the right move or if our marriage can be saved. So much hurt and never a resolve or healing.
@FreetobeMe8
Sorry to hear you're going through a rough patch with your marriage. We're here to listen and offer support if you feel like sharing what has been happening to make you feel this way.
Hang in there, you are not alone.
@FreetobeMe8
The process that leads to the decision of divorce or staying together can be difficult and emotionally exhausting. It's very understandable if you feel lost due to the possibilities. If you want to talk it out loud you can always message me. I'll do my best to help you regulate your thoughts. Take good care and remember that you are not alone.
@FreetobeMe8,
marriage counseling might help. Mind you, it focuses on trying to communicate better, to reconnect. It is not a guarantee. Most people start counseling when the rift is simply too big. Everyone who is in a serious relship for some time should hire a marriage counselor. Not to fix things, but to prevent things to happen that are beyond fixing.
We definitely have a communication breakdown. I'm married to a skeptic.
@FreetobeMe8,
maybe not. You perceive it as sceptical. The other person might just be cautious. Perceptions become truth, your truth, before you know it.
Communication starts with mutual understanding. Not trying to make your point, trying to understand each other. Stepping in each other's shoes. Expressing how you feel. No one can judge feelings. It is not about wrong or right. Saying "you are sceptical" is judging, labeling. It closes the door. Try "if you do this, it makes me feel ..... ".
Understanding starts with awareness. Being in the moment. Taking a deep slow breathe, and again, until you feel relaxed. Then you are not the situation and you can speak from the heart. Repeat whenever thought, emotions pop up. Take a break when you start to feel tense. Breathe, step outside, saying you need a break, that it is not personal, and you are still there. Be present. Very present. Practice. Both. Fail. Learn. Try again. Don't give up. If there is unconditional love, which is rare, neither will give up. Whatever happens, let not take emotions take control. Ever. It costed me my marriage and yes, we did and still do love each other beyond words.
Go softly.
@dukeofdearham- very wise words.
Wow @dukeofdearham that is some of the best advice I’ve ever read.
