This is what he said , after a wonderful weekend together,

"It's not that I just been thinking about maybe if not the right person for you, we can talk later I just feel like maybe you deserve someone better"

"See that's the thing I don't want you to change because you're an awesome person the way you are"

"I think we need some distance or something, I'm sorry for doing this"

"Well the thing is that you need someone that will actually give you the attention that you need. I'm sorry I'm just not that person
And I've been thinking about it for a week now
I just don't think I can do a relationship at this point "

"I would love to be your friend and still hang out and stuff tho"

I'm devastated. I'm already broken from all past problems, he fixed me, now he's thinking to leave me. I can't do this alone. I'm tired.

Hey there, hopefully you are doing well. I'm noticing a lot of things from what he said, he seems like he is being honest and straightforward about the situation. This person is communicating his feelings to you on a respectful way, even though it's hurting you a lot. What I'll say is not 100% certain, its just the impression I got from reading what he said, it sounds like you probably rely heavily on him and wanted more attention than he could give you. There's a chance you probably told him you could changed, and other things, which was to pretty much keep the relationship going. He has been thinking to say all of these things for awhile, sometimes we got to be really aware of how we feel, actions, the need for certainty and attention, because if you want more attention and love than he can give then it might make the person feel smothered and as if they are about to lose their freedom. It's up to you if you want to accept the friendship, even though it'll be hurtful not being able to do romantic things with him. I hope you feel better soon.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I do respect his honesty. I did understand everything and I did understand that our break up is the best decision for both of us even tho it's so painful because we had a good run. I also took time to reflect on my own behaviour in the relationship. By the time I'm ready to become his friend, it will be just friend, no more romantic relationship. Because apparently we're just not meant to be. Losing him as a partner is enough, but I don't want to loose him as a friend.
