Taking a
My boyfriend(21) and I(20) have been dating for over five & 1/2 years. Were currently in our third year of college where our schools are 5 hours apart. We are both collegiate athletes who are in season during the fall semester. Aside from that, he was pledging or whatever for a frat so I hadnt seen him for 4 months because of our schedule. The first time I saw him after this long stretch of time was Christmas. Nothing felt like it had changed but he did seem a little off to me. He wasnt being very touchy with me as usual and he didnt seem too into making conversation with me like he usually does. Leading up to seeing him, our text conversations didnt feel any different than they usually do. But the day after Christmas, he told me he felt like our vibe was off and that he didnt feel like our spark was there so the best solution to the problem I could think of was taking a break because it didnt sound like he wanted to be with me. He kept saying maybe we were outgrowing each other but I dont feel like thats it at all, weve already been in college for almost 3 years and nothing changed in that span but now suddenly it has. Ive been trying to plead my case to him about the worth of our relationship and he keeps telling me well talk about it later. But I cant sleep, cant eat, cant function. Id go into more detail with the lack of characters but please help me. Hes my best friend, my first love & he means the world to me. I dont know what to do.

Sounds like you both have a lot going on right now individually and it is becoming difficult for you to connect the way you used to. Long distance relationships are hard, especially when you are in college. This is such a transitional period of life for both of you and it is natural to feel doubts about your relationships with people. If you both still feel that there is something there, then maybe you two would benefit from a break, but be clear with eachother as to what that actually constitutes.
