Hello everyone! I have been here on 7 Cups for a year now after going through a breakup of an important relationship. I spoke to several listeners, almost all of whom were very kind and willing to listen. Despite this, I haven't seen much progress in the past year and am starting to consider talking to a psychologist. I feel insecure and scared having never been in therapy before, do you think this is the right thing? Has anyone ever sought professional help after a relationship ended?

I had a marriage of 15 years end in October of 21. My wife wanted a divorce and made it as hard as she could on me. Then I found out she had been cheating. I really worked hard on myself and grabbed onto everything I could. I started seeing a therapist and was kind of embarrassed to do so, but it was well worth it. You may have to find someone you connect with. I am really quite over it, I get into heated arguments at times with my ex, but it is over current events. I also have met a great person that approached me. Life has a way of turning on you. I really started occupying my mind with all kinds of things. I journal, I started writing, I keep my mind busy with new things constantly. I also like to do some sporting activities. Keep in mind, you said it was the breakup of an important relationship. A relationship that ends is not important, the one that lasts is the most important. You need to let go, live your life, love your self. One day you will find the true meaning of your life and embrace the joy in it. Trust that and you will be ok.
