Let me start off by saying I do love my mom but… I do love my mom but I am spending time here visiting her while living in another city hours away. Its to see her and what not but I’ve started a new job so my focus during the day into the early evening is on work. She calls out to me I’m upstairs, I hear my name, not once but several times while I’m trying to focus on work. I’m in IT and technology as well as in marketing and creative doing web design and development. So this happens multiple times throughout the day I realize that I don’t think I could liveWith my mom long-term

It’s a realization after being here for three days and while I’m writing this she is literally saying my name. Jesus help me!

@liquidfuse
I hear you. That must be tough to be in your position where one side, you love her but on the other side you also need to focus to do well on what you do, and sounds like she doesn't understand that she keeps breaking your focus.

Have you thought about creating a rule with her that from this hour to this hour, she should consider you're not home? If that's possible, what would be the emergency call she can use to call you incase of.... well, emergency?

So after having a couple tiffs with her, my mom said she understands. I told her I have core hours that I work and that 10-7. I tried having her text me instead and its like every little thing she would either tell me about verbally or in text. I really do love her but its like if you gave my dog water thank you but i dont need to know every little thing that goes on. I think part of it she is not used to having anyone over and she is glad to have me there too. She is going through a lot and maybe I could handle it better in the future. I am a work in progress. Thank you for reading. By the way my mom and i worked it out and talked about it.
