Want to seperate but don't know how...

I want to seperate. I don't see the point of 'beating a dead horse' and continuing to try to work on things bc I believe creates more hostility and resentment and I do not want that. Things aren't working and haven't been for a long while and it has created a toxic home environment I no longer wish to expose my son. My husband is aware I want to seperate but despite my best efforts to help figure out a place for him and to make sure we can cover all expenses; he just won't take part in seperating. I want to just peacefully seperate but I do not know how to get him to go....
