When do you give up?

I wish I could put our entire relationship here so that whoever is reading this could have a perfect understanding, but I’m having difficulty finding the words.

After 6 years of marriage, I think I need to leave my husband. It’s one of those situations.. if love were enough.. I wanted to believe so badly that love was enough. That being in love would help us through the toughest struggles.

Over the last few years I’m beginning to grasp that it won’t ever be enough. Not with us.

I’m struggling with acceptance. He is my life, I’ve built myself around him, my personality exists for him. He is in every thought and consideration throughout my day. I care deeply for him. I thought briefly that I may be obsessed, and to an extent, I am obsessed with loving him. He is my entire world.

How can I come to terms with it being over? I’m not going to be comforted by him anymore. I’m never going to have a hug from him anymore. I’ll never share a dinner with him or a funny TikTok.

How do you deal with something so closely related to grief? How do I move closer to acceptance? Loss is so final, but leaving a relationship or choosing to call it quits seems optional.

How can I make the right decision? There’s no quiz I can take..

What is the right answer… I’m so lost.

@lavendaire0

I can hear the pain in your words. Marriage is HARD. There are ups and downs and in-betweens throughout every relationship. And you are so right, sometimes you wonder, is this love enough? But it also sounds like you care about him very much. I know this is not easy, but I am really glad you are reaching out for support.

You didn't mention this in your post, but have you tried to have this conversation with your husband about how you are feeling? Maybe that is a good place to see if this is something that can be worked out together or not.
