my partner of almost 4 years constantly makes me feel guilty for having other friends. they devalidate my issues. they're always jealous of my friends and it seriously affects my mental health. there's a lot more but anyways, i decided to prioritize my mental health today and attempt to break up with them. they coaxed me into us just going on a "break" and it made them really upset. i don't want to be in a relationship for the time being but i'm scared for them if i choose to break up with them because they also deal with mental illness and recently got out of the mental hospital (as did i). what should i do?

I’m sorry that you have had to endure being in a relationship with someone that makes you feel like your problems and issues are invalid, and I am incredibly proud of you for pushing your way through that. It’s good that you have stepped up for yourself. Have you talked to your friends about this issue? They may be able to support you more if they know about your situation. Communication is key, and communicating the way that you feel to your friends and your partner can be very helpful!
