It's tough. Her life path took her in another direction. That isn't necessarily your fault. I don't know you, or your full situation with her, but I have suffered a loss much like the one you have with her. We think that she's perfect, that we're together for a long time, and sometimes we even fill in the blanks with ourselves convincing ourselves that she's something bigger or better than she actually is in real life. I'm not saying that is your case, but it was in mine.
Here is what I can tell you from experience...
It does get better. Once you cut ties completely, focus your energy on working through your pain, and then working to better yourself, you'll find that each day it does get a little easier.
One of the things that worked for me? I started working out. I worked out every day after she left. We were together two years and she left me for some dude she only knew for two weeks. They ended up not working out, but I didn't want her back.
As I worked out, I grew stronger. I met new friends. I took college courses and improved my mind. I read books. I listened to music. I avoided doing anything we had done together, or places we went, and I stopped the pain by acknowledging that it just wasn't meant to be. Unrequited love is the worst, and I had to come to terms with the fact that she simply did not love me the same way I loved her. She didn't see the same potential in us that I saw. No manner of convincing her would work, I'd be blue in the face trying.
Eventually, I met someone else - but it was because I worked on myself and didn't allow myself to slump into depression or into decay. I focused on building myself up, and that mattered for my recovery from her. My new relationship? Eight years strong in June.
Find a therapist, find a friend, write down what you think and feel but keep that to yourself. I used to write what I thought and felt about her and then burned it in the fireplace. That helped me deal with so many emotions, getting them OUT of my head because they would just swirl sometimes. I found that talking it out to friends usually pissed them off, so I talked to a therapist for a few weeks and that helped until I didn't need her anymore.
Look, it's raining in your mind right now - but clear skies are ahead and I know it doesn't seem that way right now, but it will happen. You will recover from this, you will find someone new, and you'll walk taller and with more knowledge and smarts to know the new woman in your life is going to bring so many better things than you imagined. You'll realize that had she not walked away, you'd never have met the new woman of your dreams.
However, just a word of caution, give yourself time to heal. Don't be in a hurry to meet someone new. They say it takes around half the time you were together to fully recover, so that is two years. In two years, you could get a degree, you could work on yourself, you could find hobbies, you could develop a new set of friends. A lot of good can happen in two years, but so can a lot of bad - so, focus on the things that you can do to make things better for yourself. You'll know when it's time to meet someone new because no woman wants to be with someone that is still hung up on his ex. That is why the healing process takes time, and you should respect that.
Good Luck.
