Anxious attachment
I've had an anxious attachment style for my entire life. It makes me come across controlling and needy because I have a fear of abandonment and I need constant validation. It's been a breaking point for a lot of relationships and I want to change. I want to heal from past trauma but I don't know. Its very difficult for my partner to navigate and it's exhausting for me to try keeping up with my own emotions. Any ideas on how to deal with this would be much appreciated
Have you tried working with a therapist that is experienced in attachment psychotherapy? Sometimes we just need to go through experiencing healthy attachment in adulthood with a trusted, experienced, and safe therapist to move forward from experiences with attachment to caregivers in childhood (like emotionally unavailable caregivers or caregivers that are inconsistent in their availability or an unstable environment growing up where we don't know if our needs will be met or not). It's absolutely okay to go through experiencing attachment to a therapist to heal from old attachment wounds from childhood, I did it myself with a therapist
