there comes a time in many friendships where one or both is not getting anything out of the friendship
so many IMO keep the friendship because of ... length of friendship / ease of access like work friends / expectations....... we get a limited amount of time in life be around those who make you think and feel and a different perspective needed for personal growth ........
when any situation is dead of everything but "well we have been friend for a long time" ........it is time to move on and find someone who does inspire you to grow...
