Good question, Avery! That really depends on a few factors. If I really like someone (implying that I'm not taken), the first question I ask myself is "Do I really like her as a best friend or can I see myself being in a romantic relationship with her?" If the answer is "I can see myself in a romantic relationship with her," then I try to find out if she's single or taken and what she's looking for in a relationship. A lot of times, if I really like someone as more than just a friend, I let the person know! Being the way I am, I don't like to watch from the sideline and wait for things to happen. If I want it, I go and try to get it. 
Speaking of that, I just got into a relationship, and I really couldn't have guessed we'd end up together, but we did. Me and her were best friends first. We had chemistry class together (no pun intended!), we were good friends all year, and we got closer at the end of the year because our teacher made us work together for a project. We exchanged phone numbers, we started hanging out more together, and then, at one point I realized that while I liked being friends, I wanted to be more than that. So I called her last week, told her I wanted to meet up, made the move, and it worked! So now we're one day into it and I can't wait to see what's next.

How do you know when you really like someone?
I always give it time. It's very easy for me to feel like I like someone when in reality it's always platonic. I will talk to this person and be open about who I am. I lose interest very quickly so if the conversation is the same everyday and I feel there's not much in common to talk about, I'll let the other person know. So for me, when I really like someone I would always have something to talk about or at least try to have something to talk about. I don't cross the oceans for just anybody but when I do, you know I'll be going far 😝
