I
Weve been together for 20 years. We both had alcoholic fathers (now passed on). He is addicted to alcohol and pot. I dont use anything, except maybe food.
Im trying to figure out if hes a narcissist. He certainly has some tendencies. But, then, I might, too.
Im tired of dealing with it and want to start my life over.
Ive also dealt with depression. Because of my childhood and my husband.
Theres so much in life I wanna do but he holds me back.
Ive finally decided to air out my feelings here.
Thanks.
Sorry to hear about this situation, I'm sure it takes a lot of strength to go through all of this. However, it's great that you have the will and motivation to start building yourself a new and better life! This desire you have, these things you wanna do, are a great motivation for you to pursue your own good. After all you've been through, you owe yourself the chance to be finally happy and free to make your life better. It's a goal that is totally worth pursuing and it can be the best possible revolution in your life.
If you feel like he's holding you back, then you may want to ask yourself what's your motivation for staying with him and what's your motivation for leaving, and ponder the two aspects. If you care much about him, you may try to speak to him first, to tell him about this, to share your feelings, needs, desires, plans. If he won't do anything to make things better for you even after you've opened your heart to him, then you'll now you've done all you could. At that point, it will be all about asking yourself what can truly make you happy and fulfilled.
Remember, you only live once, and you deserve the chance to make the most out of this one life. It's never too late!
It doesn't really matter who is what when a relationship is unhealthy. Life is short. Do what is best for both of you.
