Something that gave you joy last week?
It is going to be a new week and let's check our past week and see what is something that gave you joy.
Let's recall it and relive the memory.
I read Brain Rules by John Medina and I enjoyed reading it.
Your turn now!!
Last week was one of the hardest and saddest weeks of my life. I cant think of a moment that gave me joy. Hopefully this week will be better.
Eating pasta! That seriously brought me joy. I know it sounds dumb, but my husband and I have been on the keto diet for a month and decided to give ourselves a cheat night and eating that pasta was the highlight of my week.
@ASilentObserver I gave myself some time away from all the studies and rest of the responsibilities. it felt great. Relaxing and made me re connect to myself again.
I made it to a Christmasgiving party I really wanted to go to-- thought I couldn't make it because I worked weird hours the following day-- but someone took my shift! I had a wonderful, recharging, much needed time with the family.
My ex-husbands aubt still checks in on me occasionally and sent me a magazine filled with articles on forgiveness. It covered everything from childhood trauma to infidelity to poor parenting to dysfunctional relationships to self-forgiveness. That last part really shook me up. Were told that forgiveness is for the other person so we should forgive them and begin to heal. I feel that the reason it takes us so long to do so is because we never think about forgiving ourselves. The first thing we should do is forgive ourselves for being raised by parents who did the best they could with the tools they had, forgive ourselves for falling in love with someones potential to be on our level that wasnt, forgiving ourselves for being crappy friends when we were needed the most, forgiving ourselves for failing to break the generational curse of dysfunction in our families, or forgiving ourselves for simply being human. After reading one article I stepped out of being stuck in the resentment I felt for my ex-husbands infidelity while I worried if I was being diagnosed with cancer. Then, I forgave myself and stopped beating myself up for not leaving him sooner or being stupid for recognizing the signs quicker or reliving the past when triggered by songs or movies wed watched together. In that moment of forgiveness, I realized that I am human and so is he. So, I forgave us both, purchased my freedom and am now very much at peace.
