Generally, whats the first thing about someone that draws your attention to them?

You could try to remember the first time you met a friend- how did your attention draw to them in a room or crowd of many others?

Or try to think/imagine if you were in a crowd of strangers and had to pick one person... what would draw your attention to them? Their unique physical traits? Their eyes? Their smile? Their facial hairs? Their fashion?

What draws your attention to a stranger? ❤️

@rebecca947 i love this! thank you so much for doing this thread.

What draws your attention to a stranger? ❤️

to me, their confidence or let s say, how they show themselves to the world. Do they laugh a lot? Are they more quiet? What is their posture like? Do they seem confident about their look?

i love the thoughts you put into it! That tends to draw my attention to others, too. The confident ones I aspire to be, the shy reserved ones I can relate to :)

I don't really try to judge based just on physical traits, so for me, it's about how they treat other people ... particularly if we're all at a restaurant or coffeehouse. For example ... do they thank the wait staff? Do they try to keep their table spot relatively clean? Do they move empty bowls, cups, dishes closer to the waiter or waitress who is picking them up to bring back to the kitchen for washing AND do they THANK THEM? If it's a countertop service restaurant or coffeehouse ... do they bring their cups, dishes, etc. back to the counter to be cleaned, or do they leave it there and expect the staff to go out and get it?

Also ... what are their topics of conersation that you observe, and how do they carry on conversations? Do they prefer meaningful conversations? Are they going to their phone ALL THE TIME when they're supposed to be having a conversation with someone sitting right across from them? Do they speak respectfully, or do they use a lot of foul language and discuss topics that are seen as uncomfortable if not outright grotesque?

That's my two cents! yes

Wow, I love how much thought you put into it and try not to judge based on appearance! Manners and social understanding and consideration are definitely important aspects of a person

@AbbyHarris1976 Initially thanks for the tag smiley.

The first thing i notice of a stranger is their smile. A smile can tell a lot.I am introvert, so it takes time for me to start a conversation with a stranger. Their behaviour with other people is the key to understand about how they are in life. So i try to see how they are behaving and responding to others.Cause if we start a conversation saying "hello", people can easily sugarcoat the conversation, but to know their real personality we have to see how they are responding to the fellow mates.

Colour, creed or anything doesnt matters, as i used to travel to many places during schooldays, so i met many strangers and talked. But i do see about one thing ,like Abby said, whether the person are just in phone only and ignoring their friends and family member who is sitting next to them? or are paying attention and enjoying with them as well.

But after i start a conversation with that stranger, the thing that matters is, whether that person is paying attention to my words or not and is he/she willing to talk to me. If yes, i see it as opportunity to have a new friend, and if not then just a casual short talk with them.

I have met strangers in life, and am glad to have a trusted friend. I feel introversion, and views about friendship helped me to have a friendship with hersmiley. You know, i love this gifheart. Coz, like we are strangers to people, knowing nothing about them. But situations come, when we meet them and be life long friends.

Aww, I love it. Smile or lack of one can be important things to take into consideration, and what their smile shows. Smiling because they're nervous, genuinely happy or because they feel they're forced to? I love how you said, "to know their real personality, we have to see how they are responding to their fellow mates". What a good wrap!

Having people pay attention to their surroundings/present moment and to us are really important too, I feel for most people. Nobody likes to be ignored and have their words not being cared about. So good you've made a friend, and I love the gif- thanks for posting it! I've never seen ti before but it really made me smile :) From a YouTube channel I watch called Yes Theory, they always say "A stranger is just a friend you haven't met yet" and it's so true! Our friends were once all strangers to us, and yet we bonded and made good friendships out of them :) xx

Thanks for replying smiley.

Yes you are right about the nervous, genuine happy and forced smiles.Actually people can fake about the real personality when they can with a new person. But good ones will never do that.I saw this gif some days back and i loved this. Coz i have met people in my life somehow like this gif only. where the situation that i was facing, that person faced that somehow as well in their life which bought us together.I will have to check the site, thanks for telling.Thats so true about the quoteheart, coz i was stranger to my friend, and didnt knew her. But now we just talk about everything.

Have a good day aheadsmiley

Body language. Almost before I've ever fully acknowledged the other person as a person, I'm clocking their body language. Are they comfortable? Nervous? Confident? Cocky?

Mmm, what about body language makes you intrigued? Just a curious question! I don't think I've noticed body language a lot of the times, so I'm interested to see your perspective. Maybe I should try more often...

@rebecca947 I like "quiet" body language. Someone who is in their own world and comfortable with it. I guess it's more a lack of a cocky/aggressive language.

As many people say, The eyes are the window to your soul! Your eyes really can encompass a lot of depth and meaning, and can convey a lot more than we think in day to day life. Smiles are big too, especially if theyre genuine! :)
