Hey! I'm a 25 years old girl and haven't had any romantic relationship before. I'm kind of tired of that because I really want to experience what love is like...but for some reason (unknown for me) I don't even get dates with guys. I want to change that. I'm not boring, I'm not ugly, I'm not stupid. I don't know what it is but I need to change something. Sometimes I think I'm too shy and unsecure. Please share with me any advice you think can help this lonely soul. Thank you

@brightPlum9077 If they don't come to you, you have the power to iniate a date or signal that you want a relationship. Here's some advice to walk you though it:

First find a guy who you like enough, either initially or for a while, who you would consider for a romantic relationship.
Next invite him to hangout with you time-to-time usually in 1-on-1 situations. (You two can go hiking, dancing, cooking, video games, whatever you want.) Now during those hangouts, do the usual friendly thing of getting to know him well and being empathetic. (Lookup active listening skills if you need help.) Then you want to introduce flirty dynamics by complimenting him on something you genuinely like/appreciate about him, standing closer to him, making prolonged eye contact while smiling/being happy, etc. He may or may not reciprocate. If he does that's good news! But if he doesn't or you aren't feeling interested in him then that's okay, too.

If you end up enjoying each other's company and texting often, try inserting happy faces, hearts, cute jokes and flirty lines. To learn flirty lines and movements watch TV/movies/videos and pay attention to how the actors move and deliver their lines. You don't need to reinact any of that exactly, but come to understand why what they're saying or doing is attractive and how you can put a personal spin on it. Lastly put what you analyzed into practice by flirting on some anonymous app until you're comfortable to use those words in real life.

@bleach100 hey hey! what a wonderful advice! I love what I'm reading! thanks for such a great comment... I definitely need to be less "cautious"... I definitely do not know how to act flirtatious and that's something I have to change if I want to get someone I like... but also I have fear of rejection due to the fact I have felt all my life "rejected" from guys... I have been working hard through all these years on my self-steem. Sometimes it works.. other times just does not. But I'm optimistic and think maybe improving in the way you explain to me I will get what I want! thank you! :)

@brightPlum9077 Being cautious because fear (from trying something new or from the chance of being rejected) is normal. A lot of people feel that way. Maybe the guy you end up dating has those fears, too, it's possible.

Remember that your happiness is in your hands, not his. If he does not appreciate you as a person, then he isn't worth your time. What matters is that you appreciate yourself and that you find a man who appreciates both himself and you in his heart.

Stay optimistic, even if there's a set back, and be proud of all the work you've done on your self-esteem.
