Dual career couples - how do you manage career moves as a team??
Hi there - looking for becausesome help because I feel like my partner and I have talked ourselves in circles about this and I don't know how to move forward. We both recently received opportunities to make big career moves, but they are in different cities and we are struggling to figure out how to decide between the two options. Each choice means a big compromise for the other person (either with potential for career growth, or work/life balance and location). Has anyone experienced a similar situation and how did you and your partner work through the decision? It feels like we are playing a game of chicken to see who swallows their pride first, but there has to be a more constructive way for us to compare the two alternatives and make a decision as a team.
@CleverRabbit2019 thank you for sharing this here. I have been in a similar situation, where we both wanted to pursue a job in different countries and we have talked a lot, but at the end decided that for us the important thing is that we stay together so we both give up this opportunity and started to look for another one in our country. We are now happy together and after some time we both found opportunities in our city.
I hope you too work this out! :)
