How would you interrupt this?

How would you interrupt the person you are with telling you marriage is the goal, but not the main goal. And that it will happen (proposal, marriage) so why cant knowing that be enough? Weve been together 7 years, have a child and live together. Everyone tells me if Im happy, which I am, to just let it be.

Hello I'm not sure if I follow you? Do you want to get married? Are you saying that people are telling you to be happy with not being married?

@DangerMaus yes I would like to be married. My significant other made the statement I mentioned in my previous post when I mentioned marriage again to them recently. And when I talk to my friends about how Im feeling.they tell me if I am happy in the relationship otherwise, to just leave the marriage conversation alone and be patient.

@Readyornot2020

I understand now. They tell you to be patient and you've been patient for 7 years. I think I would be frustrated in your position. You sound like the reasonable one here and marriage is something you value.

I imagine you've had a numberous conversations about this with your partner and it seems like you still aren't getting what you want.

Seems like you may have reached an impasse and I dunno if giving your partner an ultimatum would be helpful. I would continue to advocate for your needs for an desires and hope something shifts.

Good luck, this sounds tricky.

@DangerMaus thank you for replying! Yes we have had many conversations about how I feel. I dont think an ultimatum would help and I dont want to force him either. Im just tired of everyone, including him, telling me to be patient. I feel I have been more than patient.
