Intimacy issues

My partner and I have been together for a couple of months now and in the beginning, the sex was great I was confident and it was better but as time has gone by my mental health has gotten worse and I've been having flashbacks and self-esteem issues from my past relationship where I suffered from sexual and domestic abuse. I never let it get to me in the beginning of my relationship I guess because everything was new and exciting and it preoccupied all of my thoughts. But now sometimes that's all that fills my head and I've been so depressed lately it's hard to do anything but lay in bed. I feel extremely guilty for not being as sexually active with my partner as I used to be because he wants to and he always asks and I feel like such a buzz kill. Ive tried to talk about it but for some reason the words, the explanation always gets stuck in my thought and all I end up saying is its just because of what happened. He doesn't pry for me to go into more detail and sometimes I wish that he would.

@shygirl505

It took me a long time but now realize you NEED to be direct with people anymore....

too many do not know when it is ok to ask more questions and details and press for understanding even if some of us really hope that person asks questions and opens dialogue ..... especially on topics that are sensitive. Hoping he will reach out and help you open up is not working.

i used to be passive and hint at things hoping others would catch on and ask things etc most didn't and i felt frustrated ...... now i see that speaking up even on difficult topics get to the heart of the matter much faster and eliminates the what ifs and frustration of being in my head.

if you have not just been direct once you learn the skill if becomes very freeing and you may find your self being described as direct and outspoken .... but for me better that then being depressed and misunderstood.
