Five years. We had five years of both good and bad memories. We had five years of ups and downs. We had five years of happiness, sadness, annoyance, anger and most especially love. Yes, we had five years spent together in our relationship. Five years of investing and trying to establish a good relationship. However, that five years was not enough to make her stay. There's no magic pill that'll make the pain go away, that's for sure. But every time this topic is mentioned I am reminded of a spoken word poem that I think is beautiful: "When Love Arrives" by Sarah Kay and Phil Kaye. Dunno if you're the poetry type, but I really recommend you listen, because they deliver the message more beautifully than I ever could.

Nothing went wrong: you were happy, and those times are really worth treasuring. There's no reason to be mad that I see. I think saying "thank you" and leaving the door open for the future is the most powerful thing you can do. Ah- I just really can't say anything that the poem doesn't already.
